Ian McCabe

Owner and Colorist

Ian McCabe has been in the industry since the age of 16 and was already behind the chair as a successful colorist by the age of 19 in Baltimore, MD. Since relocating to Washington, DC, Ian has established a loyal - bordering on obsessed - clientele base that includes White House staffers and European style makers. Sought after for his expertise in balayage and his ability to create the perfect custom hair color for his clients, Ian has become DC's premier hair colorist. Ian approaches every client like a VIP and is known for his patience, attention to detail, and intrinsic ability to execute a vision. Ian has worked closely alongside some of the top stylists and colorists in the industry, including Nancy Braun, Victoria Hunter, Jack Howard, and Lena Ott. His work has appeared in high-profile glossies such as Allure Magazine, Capital File, and Baltimore Magazine.

Jess Dunaway

Jess Dunaway's love for hair was already evident by the age of five, when she placed a sign in her family's front window offering free haircuts. She has since honed her skills working in Washington DC under the tutelage of Ian McCabe, who she considers her mentor and role model. Her drive and determination ultimately led her to the honor of being named one of DC's best colorist by Washingtonian Magazine. Her work has been featured in Elle, Vogue Girl Korea, Seventeen, Harper's Bazaar Australia, Australian Cosmo, US Glamour, Australian Glamour, and Grazia Magazine, to name a few. When Jess is not tending to her DC clients, she can be found working backstage at New York Fashion Week and on major advertising campaigns such as Urban Outfitters, Lake and Stars, and Earnest Sewn.

Jordan Aaron

Elle is our resident redhead and extension expert at Ian McCabe Studio’s West End location. A graduate of Paul Mitchell Academy, Elle’s five years in the industry showcase a range of talents. She worked in Annapolis salons and barbershops, and her time with butter London and Cover FX makeup inspired a freelance bridal hair and makeup business. Her recent role as Brand Manager of Alfaparf Milano connected her to Ian McCabe during a color program in Miami, where his elite standards and training inspired her to challenge her artistry behind the chair. Since joining the team in 2017, she enjoys color corrections the most because it exercises her color theory experience, and she loves teaching the apprentices her newfound knowledge. A former dancer with The National Ballet and The Ballet Theatre of Maryland, she enjoys Latin dance in her free time.
